Illinois withholds income tax at one rate, 4.95%, on every dollar of taxable wages. The calculator applies it to pay after pre-tax 401(k) and health contributions, with no Illinois standard deduction.
The rates have been unchanged since 2017. At the default $75,000 salary, each extra $1,000 of pay adds $46.53 of Illinois tax a year.
