Alabama withholding: 3 brackets up to 5%
Alabama takes a graduated bite for a single filer: 2% on the first $500 of taxable wages, rising to 5% on wages over $3,000 ($6,000 on a joint return). The calculator uses no Alabama standard deduction.
The rates have been unchanged since 1983. At the default $75,000 salary, each extra $1,000 of pay adds $47.00 of Alabama tax a year.
Several Alabama cities levy an occupational tax that is not included here.
